My goal as an artist is to share a passion with those that love seeing and experiencing what the sea and coastal living brings to your life. My work is based on what is real to me. Creating new marine paintings from places I frequent, or have visited, is important to me, as is making a particular spot recognizable for myself and those I spend time with.

This painting is based on a spot we visited on the Merced River in Yosemite National Park. I actually waded (carefully) into the river to achieve this perspective. I was struck by the clean, clear water flowing all around me on a beautiful summer day.

In December, 2025, this painting received a Merit award in the Second Annual ASMA Online Exhibition. 62 images were juried into the exhibition from 500 entries and this was selected as one of the top 8. The painting was done as a commission through Main Street Gallery in Manasquan, NJ. The image needed to remind the buyer of one of her sons who has been an avid surf fisherman since he was a child. Showing a Jersey Shore jetty and a morning wave rolling in was key. I relied on my own library of thousands of photos I have taken and cataloged over the years.

Absorbing the Roll has been juried into the permanent collection of the US Coast Guard and is the 2024 recipient of the prestigious George Gray Award for outstanding artistic achievement. The scene illustrates cutters Angela McShan and Seneca conducting joint search and rescue drills in the mid-Atlantic. The work was on display in NYC in the summer of 2024. First at the Salmagundi Club and then at the Federal Hall National Memorial. Currently the painting is on display at the Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, DC.

This painting was selected in a 2024 international watercolor painting competition to appear in a special edition of Artist Magazine - Splash 25: The Best of Watercolor. The boat, the Jamie Elizabeth, is a commercial crabber that works the Chincoteague bay out of Snow Hill, Maryland. I have come across her many times while boating and sailing in the area.

This piece was done to be reproduced as signed numbered prints and made available on Long Beach Island through North End Trilogy. I used satellite photos to help accurately draw the area.
Classes & Workshops
In the past I taught a variety of drawing and painting classes in the studio of Colorest art supplies in Red Bank, NJ on a year-round basis. Those classes included:

Although I no longer teach classes on a regular basis, I do return to Colorest 3 to 4 times a year to present weekend workshops in Watercolor Painting and Oil Painting. Check with them for scheduling or reach out directly to me.

Hauling Anchor
Study from Winslow Homer
Studies of master paintings by artists including Winslow Homer, John Singer Seargent and Andrew Wyeth are a great way to learn. This is my version of Homer’s “Hauling Anchor”.
About
I am a visual artist, previously from the New Jersey Shore, now living and working in southeastern Pennsylvania.
I primarily work in two mediums - oil and watercolor.
The focus of my work is marine art - mostly the oceans and bays of the mid Atlantic region.
I am a signature member of the ASMA (American Society of Marine Artists) as well as an official artist for the US Coast Guard.
My original paintings can be seen and purchased privately, in juried shows and exhibits, and through select galleries along the east coast including Marine Arts Gallery in Bonita Springs, FL, Main Street Gallery in Manasquan, NJ and Bishop's Stock in Snow Hill, MD. Works have been purchased by and commissions have been received from private collectors, businesses, and corporations. A number of works have been reproduced as signed and numbered giclée prints. These prints have been purchased privately and by organizations including AtlantiCare Healing Arts Foundation.
I taught drawing and painting classes at the NJ Shore for 13 years prior to relocating to PA. I currently present demos and workshops through private studios and arts organizations.
