Surf Rescue

Surf Rescue has been juried into the American Society of Marine Artist's 19th National Exhibition. The exhibit opens at the Albany Institute of History and Art in Albany, NY on September 8 and runs till December 31. After that it travels to the Minnesota Marine Art Museum in Winona, Minnesota where it will run from January 19 till May 12, 2024. The painting depicts a life guard crew from the Long Beach Township Beach Patrol on Long Beach Island, NJ heading out on a rescue through rough surf.

Sunrise Over Assateague was seen in the 1st International Online Exhibition of Contemporary Marine Art. The Exhibition presented a collection of maritime works from 5 countries. 71 works, including mine, were chosen to represent the United States through the American Society of Marine Artists. A book was published showcasing the exhibit and is still available through the ASMA.

Absorbing the Roll

Absorbing the Roll has been juried into the permanent collection of the US Coast Guard. The scene illustrates cutters Angela McShan and Seneca conducting joint search and rescue drills in the mid-Atlantic. The work will be on display in an exhibition at the Salmagundi Club in NYC in July, 2024 and then at the Federal Hall National Memorial - also in NYC.

Heading Home was awarded Best Painting at the 10th annual Jersey Shore Juried Art Show, and in May of 2017 was selected in a world wide watercolor competition to appear in a North Light book, Splash 19. The book was released in August, 2018.

I received this commission through Main Street Gallery in Manasquan, NJ. It was one of two done at the same time for the same client. This image needed to remind the buyer of one of her sons who has been an avid surf fisherman since he was a child. Showing a Jersey Shore jetty and a morning wave rolling in was key. I relied on my own library of thousands of photos I have taken over the years.

I have taught a variety of drawing and painting classes in the studio of Colorest art supplies in Red Bank, NJ on a year-round basis. Those classes included:

About

I am a visual artist, previously from the New Jersey Shore, now living and working in southeastern Pennsylvania.

I primarily work in two mediums - oil and watercolor.

The focus of my work is marine art - mostly the oceans and bays of the mid Atlantic region.

I am a signature member of the ASMA (American Society of Marine Artists) as well as an official artist for the US Coast Guard.

My original paintings can be seen and purchased privately, in juried shows and exhibits, and through select galleries along the east coast including Marine Arts Gallery in Bonita Springs, FL, Main Street Gallery in Manasquan, NJ and Bishop's Stock in Snow Hill, MD. Works have been purchased by and commissions have been received from private collectors, businesses, and corporations. A number of works have been reproduced as signed and numbered giclée prints. These prints have been purchased privately and by organizations including AtlantiCare Healing Arts Foundation.

I taught drawing and painting classes at the NJ Shore for 13 years prior to relocating to PA. I currently present demos and workshops through private studios and arts organizations.

On the Beach - Assateague

I spend a lot of time researching the areas we visit, mainly in the summer, by sketching on location and taking photographs. I like to travel light and look for interesting vantage points.
